Welcome to our dynamic wellbeing school incursion program, where children are guided to connect with their bodies, emotions and peers through evidence-based movement, sensory strategies and emotional literacy.
The Purple Playspace is an experiential social–emotional learning program that helps students embody the Zones of Regulation, understand the importance of shared empathy and navigate social conflicts at school.
Elite Care is a multidisciplinary allied-health team of Exercise Physiologists, Occupational Therapists and Psychologists, specialising in emotional regulation, behaviour support and inclusive classroom practice.
Our collaboration brings creative, child-centred learning together with allied-health expertise to create a unique 7-session wellbeing program called Purple Play Space +. This strengthens classroom connection by teaching students how to collaborate effectively and include peers with diverse needs. Through cooperative movement-based challenges facilitated by the Exercise Physiologist, students practise communicating clearly, sharing responsibility and building trust within a group. The Occupational Therapist expands this learning by helping students understand that classmates may experience sensory, communication, or motor differences that affect how they learn and interact. Students then develop inclusive strategies such as adjusting tasks, offering choices, and using supportive communication to ensure every team member can participate meaningfully. This session builds empathy, respect, and social awareness while reinforcing that inclusive teams are stronger, safer and more successful.
Students dive into the foundational understanding of emotional regulation by embodying the Zones of Regulation and through interoception. This session lays the groundwork for building a shared language, establishing a secure framework, and fostering a trusting group dynamic. Through drama and movement students discover that their bodies hold all the wisdom!
Week 3 introduces students to the practical regulation tools that form the foundation of their long-term wellbeing. Led by an Exercise Physiologist and Occupational Therapist, this session focuses on helping students understand what their bodies need when emotions become overwhelming, energy drops, or agitation rises. Students explore calming and energising movement techniques, including breathwork, stretching, grounding patterns and gentle mobility exercises that support emotional control. They also experiment with sensory strategies such as fidgets, tactile tools, resistance bands, weighted items, and 5-senses grounding activities. By the end of the session, each student begins creating their own personalised “Reset Toolkit,” identifying which strategies help them feel safe, calm, focused and ready to learn. This session builds independence and empowers students to regulate their emotions confidently across different school environments.
Explore the art of transitioning between emotional zones and delve into the essence of empathy. This session builds on the foundation laid in the first, deepening their emotional intelligence. The focus of this session is peer connection and understanding the tools they can use to stop, notice and name their feelings, then get back to the Green Zone when they are ready to.
In this dynamic session, students take centre stage by sharing real-life examples of recent challenging social situations at school. Guided by our facilitators, they act out these scenes, initiating group discussions and re-enactments. The focus is on understanding how empathy can be woven into these scenarios. This compassionate exploration empowers students to brainstorm strategies for returning to the Green Zone after challenging events. Students develop trust in themselves and in each other.
Session 6 focuses on teaching students how to cope with challenges, mistakes and frustration in healthy, productive ways. The Psychologist introduces the concept of growth mindset by helping students reframe negative self-talk, understand the power of “yet,” and recognise that mistakes help the brain grow. Meanwhile, the Exercise Physiologist leads students through age-appropriate physical and cognitive challenges designed to mimic real experiences of difficulty, allowing students to practise regulating their emotions and persisting when things feel hard. Students learn how to self-motivate, recover from setbacks, and support their peers through encouragement and positive language. By the end of the session, students feel more confident in their ability to face challenges and view them as opportunities for success.
Session 7 brings all learning together as students reflect on their personal growth and celebrate their achievements. Supported by the full Elite Care team, students identify the strategies that resonated most with them from regulation tools to conflict communication, teamwork strategies, and resilience skills. They present and demonstrate these tools to peers, teachers and families, building pride and ownership of their wellbeing journey. The session reinforces long-term embedding by creating visual reminders, classroom posters or shared agreements that help maintain the wellbeing culture throughout the school year. This final celebration strengthens community connection, reinforces students’ confidence and ensures all learning continues beyond the program.
Students demonstrate skills learned across the program and create classroom reminders.
